Elucidating the genetic basis of parasitism in lampreys using the paired species Ichthyomyzon unicuspis and I. fossor
This project seeks to identify putative genetic elements that regulate development of the parasitic phenotype in lamprey, using the paired species Ichthyomyzon unicuspis (a parasitic lamprey) and I. fossor (a non-parasitic lamprey). To do this, we will use population genomics of wild populations and a common garden study using reciprocal crosses of both species.
